This morning I left Lincoln very early (5:30) and am staying the night in VEGAS! Las Vegas, New Mexico, that is! It's the longest I have driven so far on the first leg of a trip. I put 720 miles on my car today. The 666 mile mark was Mora, New Mexico.
Some interesting places I passed by today were: The National Grasslands, The Purgatoire River, Delhi (Colorado),Cougar Canyon, The Canadian River, and Raton Pass.
I stopped for lunch at Gerk's Country Diner in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. Two doors down from the Hardware Hank, I had a fried chicken breast, coleslaw, and a large lemonade for $5.40. For $3.00 more, I got the last piece of pie in the place: peach a la mode.
Tomorrow morning I plan to go to church here in Las Vegas and then head south to Albuquerque for lunch, and then make the trip to Las Cruces.
See you tomorrow!
Janeen
